  • UGC Automotive Technologies Operations                        

 

Since its founding over twenty-one years ago in August 1994, UGC Automotive Technologies has competitively and very successfully accelerated the progress of Automotive Technologies and Know-how Transfer to, and domesticating same and their associated products in, Asia.  This especially true in China, where technologies, technical and managerial know-how have transferred to, mainly from the USA, Japan, Germany, France, Italy, South Korea, Brazil, etc. since May 1996.   This feat has been achieved with constant innovative solutions at competitive prices to the clients, without compromising their required world-class quality standards for their products and services.  

 

The following positions will be located at some of our clients’ manufacturing facilities in Asia:  
 

 

 

 

(a). Automotive Senior Mechanical Design Engineers
Job description
Your responsibilities will be: 
1.    Product design 
2.    Core design team interface 
3.    Localized component and assembly validation 
4.    Supporting supplier and plant manufacturing process development 
5.    Working with designers and validation engineers to coordinate component and assembly drawings, bills of material and specifications 
6.    Creating validation plans 
7.    Data analysis and report generation 
8.    Technical expertise support to applications teams 
9.    Work with UGC Technologies Team and the client’s manufacturing teams for global components sourcing 

 

Basic qualification: 
•    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university    
•    Domestic and international travel required (approximately 70%) 
Preferred: 
•    Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering holders will be given priority.
•    Knowledge of powertrain system component manufacturing processes (aluminum castings, steel stampings, etc.) is a plus 
•    Ability to speak Chinese, Korean, Japanese, German and/or English

(b). Automotive Senior Project Engineers
Job description
Your responsibilities will be: 
Project lead for multi-faceted Engineering programs and associated technical strategy for ongoing automotive projects. The position requires good organizational skills and strong communication with internal and external customers in order to integrate technical requirements into the product scope:
i).    Maintain and report progress of vehicle future projects to management team.

ii).   Develop and coordinate new project/program proposals.
iii).  Communicate technical requirements to support the business case evaluation.
vi).  Transition approved future projects to engineering organization once funding is approved.
v).   Develop program schedule based requirements from functional area.
vi).  Align program/project plans across organizations.                                                       

vii).  Alert organization(s) to resource synergy opportunities and timing alignments.
viii). Monitor and track activities according to the engineering program milestones.
ix).   Primary interface / link between Financial and Engineering to integrate funding requirements into operative planning      x).    Collaborate with financial controlling to fund current and future projects.
xi).   Lead cross functional activities with regional global counterparts in Engineering, Manufacturing, Sales, Purchasing, and supplier base.
xii).  Establish lean/efficient program management processes which can be implemented within the Global organization.
xiii). Generate and implement ideas to continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, processes as well as product cost and quality and team work..  And above all, maintain professional and social interaction in a multi-cultural environment.


Basic Qualifications
1. Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 15 year of experience.;                                     
2. Detailed understanding of engineering development processes and downstream impacts.
3. Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks and communicate across span from working level engineer to senior executives. 
4. Experience leading projects involving cross functional groups. 
5. Demonstrated excellent teamwork and networking skills. 
6. Proficiency in MS Office and experience preparing and providing presentations, along with strong verbal & written skills is strongly preferred.

(c). Automotive Advanced Manufacturing Engineers
Job description
Lead and take ownership of Design-to-Cost process for Driveline & Chassis products with a strong focus on pre-determined cost targets. Provide consideration of new innovative manufacturing technologies, as well as, best use of installed equipment at MPT plants. Support Sales and Finance during price building and negotiation process.

Major Responsibilities:

1.   Lead Design- to-Cost and Assembly in close coordination with Engineering and Purchasing
2.   Collaborate on plant layout concepts, supply base concepts, logistic concepts, process flow and master timing charts.
3.   Evaluate product specifications with quoting team
4.   Define vertical integration in coordination with global manufacturing strategy / footprints
5.   Consider latest manufacturing technologies
6.   Consider lean manufacturing & flexible manufacturing concepts during layouts, keeping the operator in mind when quoting equipment.
7.   Define process flows and cycle times for in-house parts and assembly
8.   Consolidation of product calculation (material cost, process cost)
9.   Define capital investment demand under consideration of available equipment (close coordination with capital manager and MPT plants)
10. Define pre-operating cost (tooling, planning, launch cost)
11. Develop master timing chart for manufacturing milestones
12. Additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Basic Qualification
1.    Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent
2.    Economic and global thinking and commercial basic knowledge
3.    Minimum 12 years of work experience in processing parts
4.    Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree or equivalent
5.    Strong knowledge of state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies for powertrain and plastics products
6.     Experience in lean manufacturing practices
7.    Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
8.    Strong economic and global thinking and commercial basic knowledge
9.    Knowledge of Magna Powertrain products, facilities, and plants
10.  Willingness to travel up to 60% or more.
