What are the projects that most represent UGC's capability?

• UGC was responsible on localizing the manufacturing of the Buick Regal and Buick Century (two different) Cars in Shanghai, China, for General Motors (GM), USA and GM of China; and

• UGC was also responsible on the up-grading of the Wuling Minivan in Liuzhou, Guangxi Autonomous Region, China, for General Motors (GM), USA and GM of China.

• Currently, UGC is also working with Chinese companies to start making Chinese cars in Nigeria.

• In the first two (2) projects above, UGC was responsible for Technology Transfer from the USA, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Brazil, etc. to China, TOTAL Automobile Manufacturing Localization in China, etc. for eleven (11) years.  Currently (for the third (3rd) project above), UGC is the Project Owner and also responsible for Technology Transfer from China to Nigeria, TOTAL Automobile Manufacturing Localization in Nigeria, etc

 

 

How should we cooperate in EPC projects in Nigeria?​

UGC welcomes Chinese partners in EPC projects, as well as Operate & Maintenance projects. Our current focus is Power and Civil Construction. UGC will provide strong local content to the consortium.

 

Take one of UGC's recent Power projects as an example.

• Our Chinese partner is responsible for debt financing. This can be obtained from China Development Bank, China EXIM Bank, etc. However, the project owner must obtain Partial Risk Guaranty (PRG) in order to obtain the debt financing. PRGs can be issued from World Bank, Federal Government Sovereign Guaranty, etc. It usually requires a minimum of 20% equity investment from the project owners.

• Meanwhile, UGC and its Nigerian affiliates are responsible for securing permits and licenses. We are in contact with the bulk traders, NERC and gas suppliers. We will sign Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), Gas Sales and Purchase Agreement (GSPA), etc with the relevant Nigerian National Government Agencies.
